Overcoming mechanical challenges to deliver structural components with maximum structural integrity.

Although titanium alloys provide excellent physical properties in structural applications, their thermal properties pose significant challenges during the machining phase. Titanium has very low thermal conductivity (approx. 21.9 W/m·K for Grade 5, compared to 50 W/m·K for mild steel).

During subtractive CNC operations, the heat generated by the cutting edge does not dissipate through the metal chips. Instead, it concentrates directly on the cutting tool’s tip. Temperatures can quickly reach up to 1000°C, accelerating tool wear.

To address this challenge, our production setups utilize dedicated high-pressure cooling systems that deliver cutting fluid directly to the tool-chip interface. This prevents thermal shock and prevents localized welding of titanium onto the cutting tool carbide.

Additionally, Titanium's relatively low modulus of elasticity (110 GPa for Grade 5 vs 200 GPa for Steel) makes it prone to spring-back and deflection under structural stress. Machining thin-walled profiles for aerospace structures or precise pressure membranes demands rigid work-holding configurations and specialized structural dampening tools.

Our manufacturing processes employ optimized tool geometries, including high helix angles and positive rake designs, to minimize cutting force and work hardening. Utilizing advanced multi-axis CNC machining, we produce complex components for Kuwaiti industrial applications, maintaining tolerances as close as ±0.005 mm.
